Projects

MOBARCH is currently working with sites in Kingston, across Canada, and in the UK. Utilizing state-of-the-art 3D scanning technology, we work with various partnering hosts to capture high-resolution data that allows for precise architectural study, re-rendering in 3D VR, and analysis. Our projects emphasizes the importance of preserving the architectural integrity and historical context of the structures, enabling researchers and the public to engage with the built environment in a meaningful way. Through this initiative, MOBARCH aims to create digital archives that serves both academic and community interests, fostering a deeper understanding of our architectural heritage.

Kingston Penitentiary in Kingston, Ontario, stands as a testament to Canada’s complex penal history and architectural heritage. Opened in 1835 and decommissioned in 2013, it is a National Historic Site, yet its future remains uncertain due to limited historical protections.
